Tell me, if your company’s Christmas party had an “MTV Red Carpet” theme and super raffle prizes (laptops and HDTV among others), and you have a beautiful venue and great food and everyone dressed to the nines, how could anybody fail to have fun?

Icing on cake: our dance presentation won. First place, and 15 thousand pesos to boot. All the late night practices paid off. Yup, I was one of the dancers (bawal mag react! Hehe). We were kinda nervous while we were waiting for our turn and believe me, we saw a lot of great performances. Way to intimidate the competition, you other teams you. I have to say, though: it was a different kind of high getting in front of a roomful of people and doing what you like and I don’t know why people do drugs. Once we were up there, everything else was a blur. I forgot to worry about my sagging belt, about the scar above my right knee (we were wearing this ultra-short skirts. I swear I’ve never worn anything so gaudy in my life), about my slightly bulging belly. I even forgot about my co-dancers. It was just me and the judges.

Some were smiling, and some were not. So I decided to focus on friendly faces lest I start to lose my nerve. And before I knew it, it was over. And I have to say, we did kind of, you know, rocked. MBS Marketing Diablos rule!

It was a fun, fun night. The food was good, and the company was great. Some very talented officemates did a couple of song numbers, and they were really good as well, who would’ve thunk???!!! Hehe. Once again (all together now), MBS Marketing Diablos rule! Much love to my officemates, who showed outstanding support for us. And our boss, whose leadership I really admire, for his unfailing support for our team’s endeavors. Yess.

I did learn one thing though: it really is kinda tough to keep smiling while dancing and focusing on your steps. I know my cheerleader-ish smile faltered once or twice.

And yeah, much love and gratitude to this dimpled boy, who has got a beautiful smile, and is my staunch ally and supporter. Keep rockin’, you. :)

Anyway.

After the ceremonies and the presentation, it was time to really party and I was once again reminded of why, pray tell, I am not made for the night life:

1. I hate crowds
2. I hate those smokey thingies they use on dance floors.
3. I hate the blinking lights
4. I hate the noise
5. I don’t particulary enjoy jumping into a sea of sweaty, wriggling strangers. And
6. It’s more fun to people-watch. Yay.

So yeah. After all this overwhelming evidence, I hereby concede, once and for all, that I am socially retarded. What a surprise.

Happy Christmas everyone! I hope you enjoy your parties as much as I had. :)
