I’ve said before that I believe in soulmates, and I know that my bestfriend is one of mine. Our friendship is not necessarily long, but I’ve never met any other friend who could understand me as well as she could. We share the same beliefs, values, and even our experiences have some level of similarities. She’s my Christina Yang, my Serena van der Woodsen (because I fancy myself as Meredith and Blair, ha-ha). We think alike so much that most of the time, we don’t need to tell each other what we’re thinking. We just know.

There are people that you grow up with, and there are people that you grow with. And while everyone grows up with someone else, it’s not as easy to find people you can really grow with. And I grew with her. She understood the inexplicable (and terribly stupid) way I have of always taking the backseat in my past relationships, because she’s the same way. We share a love for kids, and we make decisions out of our emotions. We moaned about professors, and problems both petty and grave. We witnessed one another go through a slew of relationships both serious and not, in pursuit of someone we can share the thing we’ve always wanted–a whole and happy family.

The first time she told me about her boyfriend (now her husband), I knew right away that it was different. She doesn’t call me as much, nor do we talk about our current relationships like we used to. In some ways it felt like I lost a friend, but I eventually realized that I did not. She has changed, and I’ve changed. But our friendship did not. I will always be there for her, and I know that she’ll always be there for me too. In the same way that I now have someone apart from her that I can share my secrets and build a life with, she found that too. And I’m very glad that she’s found someone to take care of her, because that is no less than what she deserves.

I was one of the first few who found out about André. And just last April 24, her husband sent an SMS telling me that their little boy was born. He came a bit sooner than we expected, but we were ecstatic nonetheless.

Just in time for Mother’s Day. :)

If there’s ever such a thing as an overly excited godmother, that would probably me. AndrĂ©, he’s a real trooper. :) He smiles a lot and is very strong for a two-week old baby. He is so blessed to be so loved by everyone around him–his parents, his grandparents, aunts and uncles, and everyone who loves his mom and dad.

I’m a teensybit jealous, actually. My bestfriend now has a family, something that both of us have always wanted. She got there first and it’s hypocritical to say that I do not feel a little abandoned. But I know, our time just hasn’t come yet. All in good time.

All in good time. :)

I share the same dream: a married life, and a nice family to nurture. In God’s own perfect time I know it will come :)
